Advocacy Program

This innovative program from the Syracuse University College of Law empowers students to earn both their J.D. and LL.M. in just three years without any additional cost beyond that of the J.D. Whether you’re an incoming student or a current 1L, you can seize this opportunity to gain a distinct advantage in the world of litigation and advocacy with credentials that previously have been available only after completing the J.D. With a specialized focus on Trial, Appellate, or Alternative Dispute Resolution, you’ll master 25 advocacy-focused credits, including required courses like Evidence and Trial Practice and elective options like Selecting Your Jury. Plus, participation in intercollegiate competition teams can count toward your LL.M. degree.

Disability Law and Policy

Prepare to make an impact in disability law with the Syracuse Law’s Disability Law and Policy Program (DLPP), the most extensive disability-related law program in the country. This international award-winning program houses the nation’s first joint-degree program in Law and Disability Studies and a curricular concentration for J.D. students who wish to focus on disability law and policy.

DLPP students work in the College of Law’s Disability Rights Clinic, take disability-related courses, and work as interns and externs in disability-related placements in New York City, Washington, DC, and other cities throughout the US and the world. You also have opportunities to work with the interdisciplinary Burton Blatt Institute (BBI) at Syracuse University College of Law, which reaches across the globe to help advance the civic, economic, and social participation of people with disabilities.

Graduates often go on to jobs in the areas of disability, education, special education, children’s rights, civil rights, labor, employment, trusts and estates, and international human rights law.

Innovation Law Center

Interested in the commercialization of cutting-edge technology? Build in-demand skills and experience in the technical, legal, and business aspects involved in bringing new technologies to market with specialization in Syracuse University College of Law’s Innovation Law Center.

Through a combination of a course concentration and experiential learning opportunities with real clients (with real breakthrough technology), the Innovation Law Center will help you understand the business goals of technology commercialization transactions; facilitate innovation; and discover how intellectual property, corporate, and contract law can be used in creative ways to advance a client’s objective.

The College of Law and Syracuse University Whitman School of Management now offer a Certificate of Advanced Study in Technology Law and Entrepreneurism (CASTLE).
